Deadly Bus-Tanker Collision in Central Nigeria

Fatal Accident in Niger State
Fourteen people were killed on Saturday when a passenger bus collided with a petrol tanker in Niger state, central Nigeria. The accident occurred outside Kusobogi village, approximately 80 kilometers from the state capital, Minna. Kumar Tsukwan, head of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger state, confirmed the incident to AFP on Sunday.

Details of the Collision
According to Tsukwan, the bus driver was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it crashed head-on into the oncoming petrol tanker. The bus was traveling from Lagos, Nigeria’s economic capital, to the northern city of Kaduna.

Casualties and Injuries
The collision resulted in 14 fatalities, while six others sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Tsukwan attributed the accident to “speeding and wrongful overtaking” by the bus driver.
