Fraud Uncovered in Punjab’s Ramadan Package Distribution; Officials Arrested
Lahore, Punjab: A major fraud in the distribution of Punjab’s Ramadan Neghban Package has been exposed, revealing the involvement of government officials in diverting funds meant for disadvantaged citizens. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.

- Misuse of Funds: Officials allegedly misappropriated checks intended for public beneficiaries, instead pocketing the funds for personal gain.
- Arrests & Recovery: Two government employees, including police officers Hafiz Abdul Rahman and Mazum Ali, along with a third suspect, have been arrested. Authorities have recovered over Rs1.5 lakh, with 17 fraudulently cashed checks identified. Another 92 checks were intercepted before they could be misused.
- Investigation Details: The fraud was uncovered by Assistant Commissioner Shalimar and Revenue Officer Sabir Ali. Following their probe, the suspects were handed over to the police, with an official case registered at Harbanspura Police Station under the complaint of Dr. Rizwan, Deputy District Health Officer.
- Scheme Manipulation: Under the package, eligible individuals were to receive Rs10,000 bank drafts, but officials instead attempted to cash the funds for themselves.
The exposure of this fraud raises concerns about transparency in welfare distribution. Authorities have assured stricter oversight to prevent future misuse and ensure that relief reaches the rightful beneficiaries. The investigation remains ongoing.
