    • The NDMA has issued an alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, windstorms, and hailstorms in parts of Punjab and Islamabad.
    • Risks include falling trees, power outages, damage to weak structures, and threats to crops.
    • Authorities advise caution, avoiding unnecessary travel, and following safety guidelines in landslide-prone areas.
  2. Disaster Preparedness Measures:
    • Rs550 million allocated for flood protection, river erosion control, and strengthening of Walewala Dam in Kasur.
    • Protective dam construction approved in Layyah to prevent river erosion.
    • Erosion control measures for River Chenab in Jhang also approved.
  3. Cholistan Water Solutions:
    • Four Reverse Osmosis (RO) filtration plants to be installed to address water shortages in Cholistan.
    • A survey and mapping initiative for riverine populations (along Indus and hill torrents) approved in collaboration with the Urban Unit.

The Punjab government is taking proactive steps to enhance climate resilience, focusing on flood protection, infrastructure reinforcement, and clean water access in drought-prone Cholistan. Meanwhile, the NDMA continues to monitor severe weather threats, urging public vigilance to minimize risks. These measures highlight efforts to mitigate climate-related disasters and safeguard vulnerable communities.
