ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s military leadership have reiterated their resolve to deepen defence and security cooperation, underscoring the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia to attend the 8th session of the Pakistan-KSA Joint Military Cooperation Committee (JMCC). During his visit, General Mirza held key meetings with Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Minister of Defence, Major General Talal Bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, and Chief of General Staff, General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, according to a press release issued by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.
The discussions centred on strategic and security challenges, the changing regional dynamics, and avenues to bolster bilateral defence collaboration. The JMCC meeting, co-chaired by General Mirza and General Al-Ruwaili, reviewed the progress of existing military cooperation, including mutual training programmes, exchange initiatives, and other joint defence activities.
Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening defence and security ties, with Saudi military leaders praising the professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in combating terrorism.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the Saudi Armed Forces Headquarters, General Mirza was warmly welcomed and presented with a Guard of Honour by a well-drilled military contingent.
