Terrorist Attack on Police Mobile in Kohat
KOHAT: A police mobile in the Shadipur area of Kohat was targeted by terrorists using hand grenades on Tuesday, according to the regional police officer (RPO).
Casualties and Retaliatory Action
One police officer was injured in the attack, while a terrorist was killed in retaliation by the police. The RPO also confirmed the arrest of several militants during the police’s counterattack.
Weapons Seized from Arrested Militants
During the operation, authorities discovered hand grenades and other weapons from the arrested terrorists. The RPO mentioned that a search operation was ongoing in the area to gather further intelligence and track down the remaining attackers.

The attack highlights the escalating security situation in the country, with a significant increase in militant activity. According to data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), terror attacks in January 2025 surged by 42% compared to December 2024.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was the most affected region, with a total of 27 attacks in the settled districts, resulting in 19 deaths, including 11 security personnel and 6 civilians. Additionally, 19 attacks occurred in KP’s tribal districts, leading to 46 fatalities, including 13 security forces, 8 civilians, and 25 militants.
