Field Marshal Munir Vows Unrelenting Fight Against Terror Proxies

Army leadership pledges firm action against foreign-backed terror proxies, promotes Asim Munir to Field Marshal in recognition of leadership during recent military operations.

1. Army Declares Unrelenting Resolve Against Terrorism

At the 270th Corps Commander Conference held in Rawalpindi, the Pakistan Army’s top brass, led by Field Marshal Asim Munir, reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the country from externally-sponsored terrorism. A comprehensive security review was conducted, focusing on both internal threats and regional tensions.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that Operation Bunyanum Marsoos—a significant counter-terrorism operation under Marka-i-Haq—was concluded successfully. The forum highlighted India’s covert efforts to destabilize Pakistan through non-state actors, following its military and diplomatic setbacks.

“The Armed Forces, along with intelligence and law enforcement agencies, will pursue all facilitators of terrorism with unrelenting resolve,” ISPR declared. It stressed that the state would not allow national peace to be compromised.

2. Regional Security and Human Rights in Kashmir

The Army leadership also raised serious concerns over India’s human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir. The forum condemned the growing aggression and suppression of Kashmiris, urging the international community to intervene before the situation deteriorates further.

Additionally, the conference reiterated full diplomatic, moral, and political support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination, and paid tribute to the martyrs of Marka-i-Haq, vowing that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

3. Field Marshal Asim Munir Honored in Historic Ceremony

In a ceremonial event held in Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially conferred the baton of Field Marshal upon COAS Asim Munir—marking only the second time in Pakistan’s history such a rank has been awarded.

Prime Minister Sharif praised Munir for his leadership during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos and described the military victory as a turning point in Pakistan’s fight against aggression and terrorism. President Zardari echoed the sentiments, hailing Munir’s service during a turbulent time and recognizing his “vision, strength, and honour”.

The historic promotion was executed under Rule 199-A of the Pakistan Army Regulations and reflects the military’s confidence in Munir’s strategic leadership amid ongoing security challenges.
