General Asim Munir Warns India: Swift Response to Any Military Misadventure

Pakistan’s Army Chief affirms the nation’s commitment to peace while demonstrating military readiness during large-scale combat drills.

Pakistan’s Military Preparedness on Full Display During ‘Exercise Hammer Strike’

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has warned that any military misadventure by India would be met with an “immediate, resolute, and high-level” response. He issued the warning during a visit to the Tilla Field Firing Ranges on May 1, 2025, where he observed Exercise Hammer Strike, a large-scale military drill conducted by the army’s Mangla-based Strike Corps.

The exercise was designed to assess operational readiness and the integration of modern weapon systems in simulated combat conditions. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir stated, “Pakistan desires regional peace, but our preparedness and commitment to defend national interests are unwavering.”

The combat drill featured a multi-domain display of firepower, including long-range artillery, combat helicopters, coordinated air support, and cutting-edge engineering operations. Soldiers from various branches of the armed forces demonstrated synchronized maneuvering, agility, and tactical coordination.

General Munir praised the participating troops for their high morale, professional excellence, and commitment to duty. He described the exercise as a testament to the Pakistan Army’s operational superiority and its evolution through technological innovation and doctrinal reforms.

Rising Tensions After Pahalgam Attack

General Munir’s remarks come in the context of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following the April 22, 2025 attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The incident, which killed 26 individuals—mostly tourists—is one of the deadliest in the region since 2000.

India alleged cross-border involvement but failed to present evidence, prompting Pakistan to categorically reject the accusations and instead call for an independent and neutral investigation into the attack.

In response to India’s claims, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denounced the allegations as part of a “blame game” and emphasized Pakistan’s openness to any transparent probe. Likewise, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated that while Pakistan seeks no escalation, any provocation would trigger a robust defensive response.

Call for De-escalation by International Community

Amid rising hostilities, several global powers—including the United States, United Kingdom, China, Turkey, and Qatar—have called on both nations to exercise restraint and pursue diplomatic resolutions.

Exercise Hammer Strike, alongside these strong diplomatic statements, reflects Pakistan’s dual commitment to peaceful engagement and national defense. As tensions remain high, General Asim Munir’s firm warning sends a clear message: while Pakistan seeks peace, its military remains fully prepared to protect its sovereignty.
