Army promises ‘befitting reply’ to any act of aggression.

ISLAMABAD:
In a high-level in-camera session convened on Sunday, Pakistan’s military leadership assured senior political leaders that the armed forces are fully prepared to respond decisively to any aggression from India. The meeting was held in the wake of rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors following the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which left 26 people dead.

Chaired by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the briefing focused on national security preparedness and diplomatic measures. Gen Chaudhry emphasized Pakistan’s desire for peace and regional stability, but reaffirmed the military’s readiness to give a “befitting reply” if provoked.

India, holding Pakistan responsible for the Pahalgam attack, has taken aggressive countermeasures—including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the Wagah-Attari border, expelling Pakistani diplomats, revoking visas, and more. In response, Pakistan has denied the allegations and implemented reciprocal measures, including airspace closure, trade suspension, and diplomatic actions.

The DG ISPR briefed attendees on the army’s readiness following what Pakistan calls a false flag operation by India, while Minister Tarar outlined Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement with international stakeholders to counter India’s narrative and preserve regional peace.

Leaders from across the political spectrum, including representatives from PPP, PML-N, JUI-F, and others, expressed unanimous support for the military and national unity in the face of Indian aggression.

Key Points:

  • Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared to respond to any Indian aggression.

  • The April 22 Pahalgam attack has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

  • India has taken punitive actions, including treaty suspensions and diplomatic cuts.

  • Pakistan has rejected allegations and taken reciprocal measures, including airspace closure.

  • DG ISPR briefed political leaders on security posture; Minister Tarar on diplomatic efforts.

  • Political leaders across parties expressed solidarity and support for the armed forces.

  • The session reinforced a unified national stance on sovereignty and regional peace.

The in-camera briefing underscored Pakistan’s dual approach: a firm military posture coupled with active diplomatic outreach amid rising hostility from India. By rallying political unity and reaffirming the armed forces’ preparedness, Pakistan sends a clear message of national resilience and resolve. At the same time, Islamabad continues to pursue international engagement to expose what it sees as India’s false flag narrative and to advocate for peace and stability in South Asia.
