Azerbaijan Expresses Full Support for Pakistan
Amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, the government of Azerbaijan has extended unequivocal support to Pakistan. In an official communiqué addressed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Azerbaijan expressed solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan while voicing deep concern over recent developments.
The letter, delivered by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov, condemned recent Indian military actions and conveyed condolences to the families of those affected by the hostilities. Ambassador Farhadov reaffirmed Baku’s commitment to Islamabad, wishing peace and stability in the region.
The Azerbaijani government emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution to the dispute, urging all parties to engage in diplomacy rather than escalation. Azerbaijan reiterated its support for Pakistan during this critical period, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
Escalation in South Asia Draws Global Concern
The renewed conflict between Pakistan and India follows a deadly incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where 22 tourists lost their lives in a reported attack. India accused Pakistan of involvement—an allegation Islamabad has categorically denied.
In retaliation, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and closed the Wagah-Attari border crossing with Pakistan. These provocative measures were met with firm resistance from Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), which warned that obstructing water flow would be considered an act of war under international law.
The diplomatic fallout further intensified after India reportedly launched coordinated missile attacks on six targets across Pakistan on the night of May 6–7, leading to the deaths of at least 31 civilians and injuring 71 others, according to a statement from the DG ISPR.
International Players Urged to Intervene
The strong show of solidarity from Azerbaijan adds to the growing international calls for de-escalation and diplomatic dialogue. With both nations holding significant regional influence and nuclear capabilities, the global community is watching closely.
Azerbaijan’s message highlights the importance of regional cooperation and peaceful engagement, particularly in times of crisis. The country’s stance reinforces Pakistan’s position that diplomatic channels and international law must guide efforts toward peace and stability in South Asia.
