The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued summons to several prominent content creators, including Rajab Butt, Anas Ali, Iqra Kanwal, Hasnain Shah, and Irum Mehmood, over their alleged involvement in promoting gambling applications.
According to the notices, the individuals have been instructed to appear before the NCCIA office in Gulberg 2 on September 15 at 11 a.m. to record their statements. The agency emphasized that the proceedings will be carried out in a transparent manner, under the observation of an observer guardian to ensure fairness.
In its notices, the NCCIA remarked, “You were called twice earlier to participate in enquiry proceedings, but you deliberately failed to join.” The agency cautioned that non-compliance this time would be treated as an absence of defense or explanation from their side.
The influencers are facing accusations of endorsing online trading and gambling platforms, persuading youth to invest, and promoting unlicensed applications via social media. Officials claim these practices were part of a coordinated plan that inflicted financial losses on the public. The presence of an observer guardian during the inquiry is expected to ensure that all parties receive an impartial hearing.
Previously, on August 17, NCCIA detained popular YouTuber Saad ur Rehman, widely known as Ducky Bhai, at Allama Iqbal International Airport on similar allegations of advertising online gambling apps.
