Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has firmly conveyed to the international community that Pakistan will never initiate aggression, but will respond decisively if provoked by India. Speaking at the Regional Dialogue 2025 hosted by the Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad, Dar highlighted the mounting regional challenges and emphasized the importance of collective peace and prosperity.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to peace, accusing India of repeatedly acting in ways that destabilize the region. Citing the Pahalgam incident, Dar labeled it a false flag operation intended to distract from India’s internal human rights abuses and freedom movements.
Dar condemned India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a violation of international law. He emphasized that India alone cannot terminate the treaty unilaterally. He also accused India of escalating tensions and pushing the region toward conflict, while Pakistan continues to show restraint and remains committed to regional stability.
Dar noted that Pakistan’s National Security Committee has already taken strong decisions in response to India’s provocations. He raised concerns over the rapid registration of a terrorism case just minutes after the Pahalgam attack, questioning the credibility of the incident.
He assured that Pakistan’s territory will never be used against any other state and that any threat will be countered with full national determination. The international community, he urged, must take serious note of the worsening situation.
On Kashmir, Dar reminded that the UN Security Council has passed resolutions affirming the right to self-determination for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He stressed that the issue cannot be ignored and must be resolved in line with these resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
