Islamabad: F-9 Park Selected for Cricket Stadium Construction

Observer Guardian has learned that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has selected F-9 Park as the location for the construction of a new cricket stadium.

According to sources, CDA has brought former cricketer Rashid Latif on board to provide expert guidance for the project. Latif will assist CDA with the stadium’s design and technical aspects. He had previously played a key role in the development of the Islamabad Club, Observer Guardian reports.

In light of the Supreme Court’s rulings on green areas, legal considerations will be factored into the stadium’s planning. Proposals under review suggest that a significant portion of the stadium will remain as green space.

Sources told Observer Guardian that, similar to stadiums in South Africa and the West Indies, certain enclosures will feature landscaped green zones. CDA may also approach the Supreme Court to seek clearance for the project.

It is worth noting that the Supreme Court had previously halted the construction of a cricket stadium in Shakarparian.
