Mohsin Dawar’s Betrayal in Dividing Pakistan for Foreign Agendas

In his new interview published on the official X account of NDM, Mohsin Dawar (a well-known Pakistani political figure) delivered another intensive attack on his own country and its own institutions. His remarks were full of allegations as he made the state an enemy to the Pashtun people. Dawar argues that the government of Pakistan is at a natural enmity with Pashtuns since he has continually propagated this agenda in all forums. He also used the occasion to warp facts in terms of the Pakistan India war and even promoted the thinking that suited the Indian strategic interests well.

His rhetoric was once again meant to attack the very fabric of the Pakistani unity further dividing the country as opposed to uniting it. His words were not directed at unification, instead, they seemed to break the country especially through the appeal to the Pashtun community and trying to use it to implement a foreign agenda.

Dawar pretends that he is speaking in the interests of the Pashtun community, but his behavior implies that much closer links to foreign players. His speech sounds like the stories that India is propagating, particularly, in terms of the regional security concerns. He has blamed the state of Pakistan of being the enemy of the Pashtuns, a group who have a long history of being in the front line in the war on terror in Pakistan. A big part of Pashtuns served in the armed forces or aided the government in countering terrorism.

The transformation of Pakistan to be the role of the enemy of Pashtuns by Dawar is very misleading and lacks truth in what which this community goes through in Pakistan. It was not only about the state that these soldiers have sacrificed their lives in this long-drawn battle against the terrorists but about the safety and cohesion of the whole country which also entails the Pashtuns.

Dawar, in his outburst against Pakistan continues to even meet the former Afghan president Ashraf Ghani who is now a fugitive in exile. The meetings between Dawar and Ghani are not aimed at peace as he might have made his followers to think but it is aimed at plotting. His encounters (secretly) bring about a lot of doubt as to what really drives him. Identifying himself with a person that left the country in disgrace, Dawar is only hurting his own credibility. He likes to forget the sacrifices of the Pakistani military when he accuses Pakistan of the influence of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

It is Pakistani soldiers who fought, bled, and died to make the region terrorism free and Dawar appeared to pursue a better agenda which is used to damage the gains made by Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. His criticism of the attempts of Pakistan to maintain stability in Afghanistan and to create the peace in the region does not take into consideration the fact that Pakistan has been leading in this struggle.

The rhetoric of Dawar concerning the discrimination against Pashtuns is also deceiving. He does not appreciate the large steps it has achieved in the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province where the Pashtuns reside. There has been the creation of infrastructure in the area, as well as increased educational opportunities within the area as well as improved security, which is of benefit to the Pashtuns and the population at large. However, Dawar hurts the country by preferring to highlight the voice of the outside world, who want to eclipse Pakistan in bad light as opposed to celebrating the improvement.

His identification with India, and how he sensitizes its story, is of more concern. India has always wanted to tarnish the reputation of Pakistan in the international scene despite being known to be perpetual enemies of Pakistan. India on its part, has chosen Dawar to be a pawn in a bigger game called geopolitics and Dawar unwillingly has been playing to India plans.

One cannot overlook national and regional implications of actions of Dawar. What he says might appear to some as mere empty rhetoric, but what is clear is the message which comes across- that he sees nothing but a divided Pakistan; it is not the unitary state that he sees. His divisive politics favors India who has everything to gain if Pakistan is divided.

In case, the Pashtun community which constitutes a large part of the Pakistani population, were to be brainwashed into thinking that their homeland is their enemy, it would not auger well with the unity of the nation.  What Dawar does is the planting of discord and providing room to the external powers to exploit their interest at the cost of Pakistan integrity.

We should also not believe similar claims of Dawar standing up in the defense of the Pashtuns. He may be waving the Pashtun flag and maybe it is true that he is being manipulated by the powers that want to sabotage Pakistan particularly its distinctiveness. He is playing a game of identity politics which is not beneficial to anybody except India as evidenced in his rhetoric and action. It turns against the people who he is supposed to represent.

Pashtuns, just as any other Pakistan community, should have a future in which they are respected, incorporated, and belong to a successful country. They need a person working to ensure their good, not someone who scores political goals, playing with their identity with foreign nations.

Those Pashtuns, who care about the integrity of Pakistan and development of their people, are with their nation. They are not loyal to divisive agendas that are foreign backed and are aimed at destabilizing their motherland. Mohsin Dawar, nevertheless has preferred to be on the side of the people who want Pakistan to burn.

Everything he does has only demonstrated that he is not motivated by the thirst to justice, but the thirst of chaos. And disorder is the frauds of enemies. It has been there throughout the history to derail nations, make them soft and therefore throughout the history countries have been vulnerable to outside influence.

Dawar has served the foreign powers and is single handedly trying to split the country of Pakistan and this should not be allowed. He does, rather than he says. He does not advocate Pashtun rights; instead, he is an instrument of individuals who want to play games to split and rule Pakistan. The living Pashtuns of Pakistan will remain united with their nation facing the external hostilities and internal sabotages. Mohsin Dawar, however, will go down in the annals of error, not remembered by the cause of the jihad of justice, but will be remembered to be part of the frenzy of anarchy and segregation.
