Pakistan Expresses Support for Iran’s Peaceful Nuclear Program

Islamabad: Pakistan has officially endorsed Iran’s right to pursue a peaceful nuclear program. This development took place during the official visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Islamabad. Both nations exchanged several agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), further deepening bilateral cooperation.

During a joint press conference with the Iranian President, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that Pakistan stands firmly with Iran on principled grounds. “Pakistan and its people strongly condemned Israel’s unprovoked aggression against Iran,” said the Prime Minister. The Observer Guardian noted that this marks a significant moment of unity in the region.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of solidarity. He stated, “A true friend is one who stands by you in difficult times.” He highlighted that Pakistan and Iran share a unified stance against terrorism. He further revealed that both countries aim to reach a bilateral trade target of 10 billion dollars in the near future.

Referring to President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit, Shehbaz Sharif noted that this is the Iranian President’s first official visit to Pakistan. He said that both sides had comprehensive discussions covering mutual interests, religious and geographical ties, and broader regional issues.

He strongly condemned the Israeli assault in June, describing it as unprovoked and unjustified. “We pray for the martyrs of Iran, including the generals, and may Allah grant them a place in paradise,” the Prime Minister said. According to the Observer Guardian, this condemnation reflects Pakistan’s firm foreign policy stance on Middle East tensions.

The Prime Minister also expressed optimism about the future of bilateral agreements. He stated, “Today we signed multiple MoUs with Iran. Our desire is to soon convert these into actionable agreements.”

He reiterated that Iran has every right to harness nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. “Pakistan supports Iran’s right to develop nuclear technology for civilian use,” he added.

Addressing the situation in Gaza, Shehbaz Sharif called for an immediate ceasefire. He noted that both Iran and Pakistan have consistently raised their voices for Palestinian rights. “Israeli atrocities in Gaza continue unabated, and the world must unite for peace,” he asserted. Observer Guardian emphasized the growing cooperation between Pakistan and Iran on global humanitarian concerns.

In his remarks, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian began with a Quranic verse and called for unity within the Muslim Ummah. He thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan for their warm hospitality and described Pakistan as a “second home.”

The Iranian President shared that he had productive discussions with Pakistan’s religious scholars and political leaders. “We are deeply grateful to Pakistan for its stance against Israeli aggression,” he said, underlining the urgent need for Muslim unity in today’s world.

President Pezeshkian stressed that Iran-Pakistan relations are rooted in shared culture and faith. “Allama Iqbal’s poetry remains a guiding light for us too. His vision was firmly based on Muslim unity,” he said.

He concluded by affirming that maintaining strong ties with Pakistan remains a key pillar of Iran’s foreign policy. “Our cooperation is expanding across multiple dimensions,” he said. The Observer Guardian views this visit as a strategic move to strengthen regional alliances.
