Pakistan Thanks Iran for Peace Mediation Amid India Conflict

Pakistan expresses gratitude for Iran’s mediation as regional tensions ease after deadly escalation between Islamabad and New Delhi.

1. Pakistan Commends Iran’s Diplomatic Mediation Amid Rising Tensions

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry praised Iran for its constructive role in defusing tensions between Pakistan and India following a deadly episode in occupied Kashmir.

In a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, PM Shehbaz thanked Iran’s leadership for its “sincere and brotherly” diplomatic outreach, including sending Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to the region and offering mediation. PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, acknowledging Iran’s support while condemning India’s unprovoked attacks which led to civilian casualties.

He reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and warned against India’s attempts to unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a “red line” for the country. The Kashmir dispute, he emphasized, remains the core issue of instability in South Asia and must be resolved in accordance with UN resolutions.

2. DG ISPR Acknowledges Iran’s Role, Warns of Destabilizing Forces

In an unprecedented interview with Iran’s state news agency IRNA, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry expressed gratitude to Iran and other “brotherly countries” for their efforts to de-escalate the situation. He highlighted the danger posed by external forces trying to create rifts among friendly nations.

Lt Gen Chaudhry praised Iran’s diplomacy, particularly the visit of Foreign Minister Araghchi to both Islamabad and New Delhi, which helped ease rising tensions. He reaffirmed that Pakistan and Iran enjoy deep-rooted, historical ties and are actively cooperating for regional peace and security.

He also emphasized Pakistan’s desire for its border with Iran to remain a “border of peace and friendship,” affirming mutual commitment to stability and collaboration in various sectors.

3. National Leadership Stands United: Military, Political, and Media Acknowledged

President Asif Ali Zardari, during a visit to Gujranwala Cantonment, lauded the military’s swift and professional response to Indian aggression during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. He praised the courage and morale of the armed forces, affirming national pride in their sacrifices and achievements.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also expressed appreciation for the armed forces, parliament, and media. In a meeting with Senator Irfan Siddiqui, he commended parliament’s unified stance across political lines, which, he said, demonstrated the strength of Pakistan’s democracy. He also applauded the media for countering misinformation and upholding national interest.

The national leadership collectively reinforced the importance of institutional harmony, resilient defense, and diplomatic engagement to safeguard sovereignty and regional peace.
