National Pride and Strategic Success: PM’s Visit to Pasrur Garrison
On May 14, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, addressed troops at Pasrur Garrison in Sialkot. The visit came in the wake of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, a significant military operation launched in response to recent Indian aggression.
Hailing the operation as a “historic victory,” the Prime Minister commended the bravery, professionalism, and discipline of Pakistan’s armed forces. “This is not only a military success but a message to the world,” Sharif said. He praised the operational leadership of General Asim Munir and the advanced capabilities of the Pakistan Air Force under Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu.
“Avenging 1971”: A Message to India
Sharif drew historical parallels to the 1971 war, accusing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of continuing a legacy of subversive tactics. “The world knows who trained Mukti Bahini. Today, similar support is being given to groups like the BLA and TTP,” the PM remarked. He also accused Modi of sponsoring terrorism, referencing attacks such as the Samjhauta Express and unrest in Balochistan.
Sharif warned that any interference with Pakistan’s rights under the Indus Waters Treaty would provoke a severe response. “Water and blood will not flow together,” he declared. He added that while Pakistan seeks peace and regional stability, it remains fully prepared for any military confrontation.
A Call for Dialogue — But Not at Any Cost
While signaling openness to talks, the Prime Minister firmly stated that no dialogue with India would take place in a vacuum. He reiterated that peace must be based on mutual respect and justice, including the resolution of the Kashmir issue as per UN Security Council resolutions.
Referring to the battlefield efforts, Sharif announced that the story of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos would be documented in his autobiography as a symbol of courage. “Not a single inch of our territory was lost. Our soldiers held their ground with unwavering resolve,” he said.
The PM concluded his address by thanking the military leadership and reaffirming the government’s unwavering support for national defense. “Our response was measured, disciplined, and overwhelming,” he stated. “Pakistan will remain strong and united until the Day of Judgment.”
