Punjab has been devastated by floods brought on by severe rains and the discharge of water from India, where three raging rivers have inflicted devastation.
The Guardian claims that the flooding in Punjab is at its worst level in 39 years. Streets have been turned into rivers as entire towns and villages have been flooded. Pathways have been wrecked and homes have been carried away. Families in some places evacuate toward safer ground while carrying what little they have left over, while others are stranded on roofs for safety.
According to observers, one of the biggest displacements in Punjab’s history is currently taking place.
Numerous villages are currently surrounded by floodwaters in the impacted areas, which include Wazirabad, Kasur, Narowal, Hafizabad, Kamalia, Mandi Bahauddin, Bahawalnagar, Sialkot, Sargodha, Vehari, and Pakpattan.
Roads have fallen and temporary embankments have crumbled in numerous places, preventing ground access.
In addition to reviewing ongoing relief efforts, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz flew over the flood-affected districts.
The Pakistan Army, Rangers, and local volunteers are working around the clock to conduct relief and rescue operations in the impacted areas, rescue authorities told The Observer.
