Afghanistan Chief Selector Criticizes Cricket Australia

The Chief Selector of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and former cricketer Asadullah Khan has expressed strong displeasure toward Cricket Australia, saying that its refusal to play bilateral series goes against the spirit of the game.

In his statement, Asadullah Khan said that the Afghanistan cricket team is being unfairly targeted despite having earned its place in elite international cricket through consistent performances and hard work.

He explained that the Afghan women’s cricket team has not been able to play matches in recent years and that progress takes time. According to him, Cricket Australia and other boards are wrongfully mixing politics with sports, which harms the true essence of cricket.

Asadullah emphasized that such actions are not good for the gentleman’s game, and that Afghanistan’s rise in world cricket is purely based on merit and dedication, not favoritism.

He further added that the success of the Afghan team is neither a result of special favors nor of charitable support, but a reflection of hard work, talent, and resilience.
