Competition Commission of Pakistan Approves FrieslandCampina and Milcobel Merger
ISLAMABAD: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has approved the merger of Belgian dairy cooperative Milcobel CV with Zuivelcoöperatie FrieslandCampina U.A., a leading Dutch dairy company. This strategic merger strengthens FrieslandCampina’s position in the global and Pakistani dairy industry.
FrieslandCampina, one of the world’s largest dairy cooperatives, collects milk from farmers in the Netherlands and Belgium and processes it into a wide variety of dairy products. In Pakistan, the company operates through its subsidiary, FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited (FCEP), which produces and markets popular dairy products for local consumers.
Milcobel CV, a Belgian cooperative engaged in the same sector, is known for its milk powder products. In Pakistan, it distributes its well-recognized Inco and Binco brands through business-to-business (B2B) partnerships.
The approval of this merger by the Competition Commission of Pakistan is expected to enhance competition, improve supply chain efficiency, and expand the availability of international dairy products in the Pakistani market.
